China experiments with “rice-thelcress” in space, growing well

Zheng Huiqiong, a researcher at the Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), said the progress of the Plant cultivation in China’s Wentian laboratory.

It was found that the seeds of two plants, rice and thelcress (Arabidopsis), grew and were in good health. It was installed in the Life Ecology Laboratory and launched into space since July, and entered the space planting experiment on July 29.

The statement stated that The thelcress sapling has already blossomed. The rice seedlings are regarding 30 cm tall, adding that from now on the life cycle experiments of both plants will be conducted to obtain space seeds.
