Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian condemned attempts by Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party and other nations to draw a parallel between that island in southeastern China and Ukraine.

He assured that the situations in both territories are not similar and that Taiwan is part of China, which does not tolerate interference in its internal affairs.

In addition, he rejected speculation by US politicians about an alleged threat from Beijing to Taiwan, a mechanism used by the West to spread the word that Russia planned to invade Ukraine and promote hatred against that country after the deployment of its special military operation to protect the population of Donbas and demilitarize-denazify Ukraine.

Wu Qian ratified the total willingness of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to defend China’s sovereignty.

In that sense, he expanded that his armed forces have increased military exercises in the Taiwan Strait as a warning against attempts by Taiwanese separatists or the foreign military presence in the area.

At the end of last February, the PLA strongly rejected the passage of a US destroyer (the USS Ralph Johnson) through the Taiwan Strait.

Over the past few months, China has faced systematic attempts by Western countries to interfere in its internal affairs regarding Taiwan.

On several occasions, the Beijing authorities have reminded the US government that that country recognized the principle of one China and that it must turn its attention to its internal affairs instead of airing those of other countries.
