After U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) conducted an unprecedented military exercise in six areas encircling Taiwan from noon on August 4 to noon on August 7.

Moreover, on the first day of the missile exercise, five missiles were fired into Japan’s EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone). This cannot be seen as a war provocation against Japan.

Furthermore, after August 8, the Chinese side is said to hold a “combat exercise joint exercise” in the waters around Taiwan. The use of the term “exercise” instead of “exercise” means “normalization of exercise”. Here comes the USS Reagan Strike Group. It may pass through the Taiwan Strait. The passage through the Taiwan Strait does not violate any international law.

But can the Liberation Army stand by and watch a US aircraft carrier pass in front of them? This could already be called the fourth Taiwan Strait Crisis.

The exercises around Taiwan that began on August 4 were de facto Taiwan blockade exercises, a kind of retaliation by China for Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. It is said that it was difficult to prepare and plan an exercise of this scale immediately, and that it was probably a simulated implementation of one of the plans for an actual military invasion of Taiwan.
