Chinese cars, whether gas-powered or electric, have posted impressive sales figures in Israel since the start of 2023, data released Friday by the Association of Vehicle Importers of Israel showed.
BYD, China’s leading electric car maker, became the top-selling electric car brand in the Jewish state during the period with 8,497 electric cars sold, primarily the Atto 3 subcompact crossover SUV.
Chinese automaker Geely Auto Group, which sold 4,091 Geometry C compact crossovers in January-May, ranked second among all electric car brands.
Chery Automobile Corporation, another Chinese automaker, which entered the Israeli market at the end of 2022, quickly became the sixth best-selling brand in the country and the fourth in terms of gasoline car sales in the first five months of 2023.
