From April 1, 2024, 50S fuel oil, with a sulfur content of 50 ppm (parts per million, editor’s note) will no longer be available on the market. Only heating oil with a maximum sulfur content of 10 ppm, or 0.001%, may be marketed. Reducing the sulfur content of fuels is part of an approach that is more respectful of the environment because it makes it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Only two types of fuel oil, H0 and H7, will be sold from next April. H0 fuel oil will contain a maximum of 0.5% FAME biocomponents, while H7 will contain a maximum of 7%. It is not yet known which variant will be the most expensive, according to the general manager of Brafco.
