Chris Jericho to Play Gorgeous George in Prime Video’s Muhammad Ali Series

AEW star Chris Jericho has been cast as legendary wrestling pioneer Gorgeous George in Prime Video’s upcoming historical drama limited series The Greatest, which chronicles the life of Muhammad Ali and is scheduled to premiere all eight episodes on November 4, Wrestlezone reported.

Jericho Joins Cast of Dexter: Resurrection

  • Jericho expands his mainstream footprint outside the squared circle just ahead of his acting appearance in Paramount+’s Dexter: Resurrection season two.
  • The role brings renewed mainstream visibility to pro wrestling history, spotlighting the character who influenced Muhammad Ali’s approach to self-promotion.
  • The project adds another credit to Jericho’s schedule as he balances occasional AEW matches with television and film projects.

Stepping Into the Shoes of Gorgeous George

According to Deadline, Jericho will appear with curls in the fourth episode of the Ben Watkins-created series. The historical drama explores defining moments in Ali’s life and career, looking at both his time inside the spotlight and his experiences as a husband, father, brother, and son. Jaalen Best leads the cast as Muhammad Ali, starring alongside Omari Hardwick and Dana Gourrier as Ali’s parents.

Gorgeous George stands as one of wrestling’s first true television sensations. His entrances, hairstyle, and mastery of self-promotion helped shape the way wrestlers presented themselves to the public. That showmanship captured the attention of a young Ali, who took inspiration from George’s confidence and showmanship for his own boxing career.

He also executive produced the documentary Vietslam: Squashing the Cultural Gap, which examines pro wrestling’s cultural footprint in Vietnam.
