The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, inaugurates today, Friday, 12th, and tomorrow, Saturday, 13th, three important public projects, valued at more than 91 million dollars. The Huambo Cultural Center cost the State coffers around 23 million, CINFOTEC 30 million, while the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR) consumed approximately 38 million dollars
From today onwards, João Lourenço develops an intense work agenda in the province of Huambo, specifically in the main municipality, which includes the inaugurations of important social and cultural enterprises. The city of Huambo got all dressed up to, starting today, Friday, welcome João Lourenço. Words of affection and affection for PR, such as “Welcome, Mr President”, are currently ‘flooding’ the main arteries of the plateau city.
The President of the Republic, who works for two days, will cut the inaugural ribbons and, consequently, unveil plaques for the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR), the Cultural Center and the Integrated Technology Training Center. All infrastructures prioritize the training of Angolan staff, with a focus on human development.
The Cultural Center, an imposing infrastructure, built right in the heart of Huambo, next to the emblematic culture garden, includes dance, music, eculture workshops, reading rooms, music, library, shop and catering services. Aware that the enterprise has essential features for improving the quality of life of young people and beyond, the director of the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Jeremias da Piedade, highlights the issue of creating jobs, although he did not refer to numbers.
Students have the floor
Students say they are the main beneficiaries of the projects that, from today onwards, will be inaugurated by President João Lourenço, as part of a working visit to the province of Huambo. Gonçalves Chicapa is a university student and has some studios owned by Asian citizens, spread around the city, which have served as an alternative for his school research. The young man spoke to OPAÍS moments after having attended — this yesterday — the rehearsals of a band that will grace the inauguration ceremony, to be presided over by the head of state.
He said he praised the millions of dollars spent to build a project of that size, as young people like him will have an easier life with the library made available. Maria Gabriel, also a student, praises the fact that a training center the size of CEFOJOR was built in her province.
Gabriel dreams of being a journalist and, therefore, thinks he has found a unique opportunity to materialize a years-long dream. “It’s a big job. CEFOJOR will give the opportunity to those who want to do some type of training, like me, for example, who want to do journalism, to show the world what I really know how to do”, he explains.
CEFOJOR serves the central region of Angola
PR also inaugurates the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR) for the construction and, consequently, equipping of which the State disbursed around 38 million dollars, specifically thinking about training staff, as explained by the director of CEFOJOR, Ikuma Bamba. The person in charge highlights that the center, equipped with cutting-edge technological resources, was created with the aim of serving, in addition to Huambo, the surrounding provinces, namely Benguela, Bié, Cuando Cubango and Huíla.
“From what we see here, there is no problem in saying that it is a good investment by the State, if we look at the value and the result. We have infrastructure here that can prove that, in fact, the State made a good investment”, he highlights. CEFOJOR has 16 classrooms, each with the capacity to accommodate 30 students, laboratories (studios) for radio, television, press (written), photography and a music studio.
Among other features, the social enterprise also has an auditorium with capacity to accommodate 300 people, a restaurant for the same number of people, 80 rooms for boarding school training, six halfway houses, in addition to the infrastructure that welcomes “digital.ao”. “We shouldn’t complain about a lack of means and conditions. There are conditions here: infrastructure, quality of work, investment. The extent to which we will have these conditions explored as a whole depends on demand. We believe that the strategy we have defined for this purpose may not be immediate, but in time we can make the most of our conditions”, he considers.
