Clarification from the Passports regarding the legal age allowed to travel without a permit

Al-Marsad newspaper: The General Directorate of Passports said that the legal age for travel without a permit is 21 years or more.

The “Passports” also announced that the date approved for calculating the legal age is the Hijri date.

The service of travel permits for family members aims to enable individuals to issue and cancel travel permits for a family member electronically, according to the electronic services guide on the “Absher” platform.

The conditions for this service are: that the family member has a national identity or passport, the validity period of the travel permit is the passport’s expiry period as a maximum, if the permit is issued on the passport, and a maximum of five years, if the permit is issued on the “smart” national identity Or the validity period of the permit is the period of expiry of the national identity. In the event that there are companions in the passport, the declarant can choose any of them who wishes to issue the permit to him with the owner of the main passport.

And the “Absher” platform added that among the conditions: Any previous valid permit must be canceled when a new permit is issued, which applies to those accompanying in the passport, the same conditions as the permit issued to the owner of the main passport.

Note that companions cannot travel without the holder of the primary passport. A travel permit for non-Gulf countries cannot be issued to a person who does not have a valid passport. The travel permit issued on the national identity includes the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council only. The service includes family members under the age of 21 without married couples.

The platform pointed out that if a family member accompanies the passport holder, the accompanying permit is automatically canceled when the permit of the main passport holder is cancelled.
