Class action: $25 gas discount in four cities

Thus, consumers in Thetford Mines, Magog, Victoriaville and Sherbrooke will share a total sum of $723,600 divided in the form of fuel discounts worth $25.

The settlement is the second to occur in the class action lawsuit against certain gasoline retailers in connection with allegations of gasoline price-fixing collusion, the APA said in a statement.

“All natural or legal persons governed by private law, companies, associations or any other groupings without legal personality who purchased petrol on at least one occasion between 1 January 2001 and 30 June 2006 in the territories of towns [concernées]will be able to obtain this online discount.

“The gas stations that were targeted by the class action will not be involved in this consumer rebate. As good corporate citizens and in order to support aggrieved consumers, several Harnois Énergies service stations have offered their assistance in distributing the rebates,” the APA specified.

The discount will be applicable to the purchase of 25 liters of gas or more. The distribution of vouchers will begin on January 23 in the Thetford Mines region.
