President Claudia Sheinbaum dedicated her October 29 press conference to honoring the late Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas while announcing institutional measures regarding federal electoral material and the National Electoral Institute (INE), MILENIO reported.
Honoring Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas
During her morning conference on October 29, President Sheinbaum paid tribute to the late Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, who passed away at the age of 92, according to El Financiero. Federal officials who coincided with the political leader underscored the importance of his movement to generate a change in the country’s democracy. Sheinbaum confirmed that she would participate in the homage that will be held at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, noting that she might arrive after midday, as the body of the political leader will remain there.
Auditing the INE and Shifting Electoral Material Production
Shifting focus to electoral administration, Sheinbaum announced an initiative for Talleres Gráficos de México to be in charge of the production of the INE’s electoral material, as a solution to the alleged corruption network detected in the management of Guadalupe Taddei. According to El Financiero also asked the Auditoría Superior de la Federación to carry out an investigation of the periods prior to Guadalupe Taddei to identify since when there was a relationship with the companies signaled as benefiting from the sale of electoral material.

Wider Administrative and Regional Agendas
The broader government agenda addressed during the week included welfare distribution schedules, international diplomatic outreach, and domestic infrastructure concerns. Welfare Leticia Ramírez Amaya announced that the payment of pensions for the November-December bimester will begin on November 3 and conclude on the 27th of the same month. Concurrently, administration officials managed ongoing logistical challenges, including mobilizations by transport workers, prompting scheduled negotiations between federal representatives and representatives of the sector.
Additional Federal Programs and Sector Updates
The administration also addressed fiscal and institutional matters, noting that the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit, headed by Edgar Amador Zamora, reported that the autotransport sector holds estimated fiscal supports of 13.9 billion pesos for 2026, alongside a proposed income limit reduction from 300 to 250 million pesos for 2027. Regarding trade and international relations, President Sheinbaum stated that both countries continue moving forward through dialogue when asked about statements from United States President Donald Trump regarding resolving trade tensions around the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
