Backpedaling. The actress Clémentine Célarié said on Tuesday January 9 that she wanted to “disconnect” from the platform of support for Gérard Depardieu, judging that she had “deceived” by signing it and presenting its “apologies to those she may have hurt”.
“I absolutely want to dissociate myself from this platform”she writes in a text sent to Agence France-Presse. “I am impulsive, I got carried away and I regret it painfully. I was wrong. I apologize to those I may have hurt, because I stand with them with all my heart.”she adds.
The actress is one of the sixty signatories of a forum from the pro-Depardieu camp calling for “do not delete” the icon of French cinema, published on Christmas Day in Le Figaro.
The 75-year-old actor is the target of three complaints for sexual assault or rape – accusations which he refutes – and is widely criticized for his multiple misogynistic and insulting comments towards women as well as a little girl heard at the beginning of December in images broadcast by the program “Complément d’investigation”.
He has been indicted for rape since 2020, following a complaint from actress Charlotte Arnould. Gérard Depardieu is also accused by thirteen women of sexual violence in an investigation Mediapart.
