If we had to find a positive point about winter, it would without hesitation be the tangerines which appear in huge jars of fruit in our kitchens as soon as it starts to get cold. Thanks to its sweet and tangy taste, it almost dethrones our beloved red fruits in summer. Good news, it is rich in vitamin C, fiber and minerals and constitutes an ideal appetite suppressant, we take it everywhere with us thanks to its small size and its ease of tasting. Two fruits alone represent half of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. However, we know that they play an essential role in fighting fatigue and winter illnesses. Beyond boosting our immune system, they also offer suppleness and firmness to the skin. In short, they’re all good.

Here is the Japanese favorite fruit for weight loss:

The ideal amount

But how many should we ideally eat per day? The recommendations revolve around five fruits and vegetables to eat daily. For clementines, it is estimated that you need to eat two to get one serving of fruit. Ideally, you should therefore eat four clementines per day, supplemented by 3 vegetables, to achieve the recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables. The only downside is that, like many fruits, clementines contain large amounts of fructose. Mandarins, often heavier, contain even more. They also count as a fruit in their own right. We therefore avoid overconsuming it throughout the day. Indeed, their simple carbohydrates, quickly absorbed by the body, are not necessarily good for health, especially for overweight people. Then, their excessive consumption can cause gastroesophageal reflux or cause heartburn as well as irritation to the lining of the esophagus.

Beware of excess

In summary, 4 clementines and 2 mandarins per day are the preferred quantities to stock up on vitamin C, without taking a counterproductive approach for our health. Excess clementines and tangerines will lead to overweight and diabetes in the long term, among other things. “Taking the quantity of 3 fruits per day as a guide, you can go up to 6 clementines daily, provided you do not consume other fruits. If you want to eat an apple, there are two servings of fruit left during the day. We can therefore add 4 clementines maximum”, specifies Sonia Duval, naturopathic nutritionist at Top Health.
