Conor McGregor Makes His Big-Screen Debut in Hollywood Remake of Road House: Reviews and Future Acting Plans

Conor McGregor, the former two-division UFC champion, has recently made his debut in Hollywood. He starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the remake of “Road House,” which was released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. McGregor’s portrayal of the character Knox, a sneering antagonist, has received positive reviews and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“Road House” was initially planned to be a five-week project, but McGregor’s character started to evolve and grow during filming. McGregor explained on The MMA Hour that he was guided by the directors and gave them multiple options to choose from. He expressed his hope that they would take the character in a different direction, but ultimately they were satisfied with what McGregor delivered.

While McGregor’s comeback fight against Michael Chandler is finally set to happen this summer, the exact details, such as the date, rounds, and weight class, have yet to be determined. McGregor also mentioned that he has two more bouts remaining on his UFC deal and hinted at the possibility of pursuing further acting opportunities. This prospect could pose a challenging situation for the UFC when negotiating a new contract with McGregor.

McGregor expressed his belief that he has the potential to play any role in movies and highlighted the opportunities that could be created around him. He mentioned the success of actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone and how movies could be written specifically for him. McGregor acknowledged that UFC executives are aware of his interest in acting and Hollywood, adding complexity to future contract negotiations.

Despite his foray into acting, McGregor emphasized that MMA will always be his primary passion. He compared himself to Mike Tyson, who came out of retirement to fight Roy Jones Jr. McGregor shared how he related to Tyson’s attitude of returning to the fight game after a long hiatus, solidifying his dedication to MMA.
