The design of l’iMac M1 is one of Jony Ive’s last contributions, who left Apple in 2019 and has been responsible for designing all of Apple’s all-in-ones since the original 1998 iMac. screen, in what Apple calls the “chin”, not the back of the computer. This chin does not please everyone, and the technicians of Io Technology had fun making it disappear. They created a custom chassis and rearranged the components to fit into a protuberance on the lower back of the iMac. You can find the video, in Chinese, on this page.
Of course, you have to trust Io Technology for the positioning of the fans and the proper cooling of the whole thing. This project is not intended to inspire the designers of Cupertino, who necessarily tested many alternatives before stopping the design of the iMac M1.
