Continuous rise in earthquake victims in Syria.. Damascus denies Netanyahu’s allegations

Al-Mayadeen correspondent reports an increase in the official toll of human and material losses as a result of the earthquake that struck areas in Syria, and a Syrian official source categorically denies the veracity of what the Israeli occupation government’s prime minister said about receiving a request for assistance in relief of the earthquake victims from any Syrian side.

Correspondent reported fieldsToday, Monday, the official death toll from the earthquake that struck areas in Syria increased, as more than 800 people were killed and at least more than 2,315 others were injured in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake, followed in the morning by another 7.5-magnitude earthquake.

Our correspondent said that the number of collapsed buildings reached 60. Likewise, the death toll in Aleppo governorate has reached 161 victims and 512 injuries, and 18 centers have been opened to shelter those affected by the earthquake in the governorate.

In Hama, 4 buildings collapsed, and the death toll reached 37, with a total of 80 injured, and 4 shelters were opened in them.

In Lattakia, the number of collapsed buildings reached 75, and 232 victims died after the earthquake, with Lattakia recording the highest rate of injuries, close to 700, and 12 shelters were opened there.

In Tartous governorate, the number of injuries reached 27, the number of collapsed buildings in the previous governorates reached 139, the number of deaths 430, the number of injuries 1315, and the number of shelters 34 centers.

Denial of the Israeli allegations

A Syrian official source categorically denied the validity of what the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said of receiving a request for relief assistance for the earthquake victims from any Syrian side.

The official source added that if Netanyahu had received such a request, it was certainly from his allies and friends in ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and terrorist organizations, saying, “The occupation entity is the cause of woes, wars and tensions in the region, and it is the last one who has the right to talk about providing aid and assistance.” “.

He said, “It is disgraceful that Netanyahu exploits the catastrophe of the earthquake that struck Syria to mislead public opinion and cover up the expansionist and aggressive policies of the occupation.”

Also, Syrian sources denied to Al-Watan newspaper the allegations of Israeli officials regarding a request submitted by Syria to the Israeli entity for aid in relief.

In detail, the sources confirmed to Al-Watan that everything published in the Israeli media “does not exceed a propaganda campaign for his prime minister.”

The sources asked: “How can Syria ask for help from an entity that killed and participated in killing Syrians over the past decades and years?”

Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that he had “agreed” to send aid to Syria, which was hit by a violent earthquake, after receiving a request from Damascus.

Syrian Foreign Ministry

A large number of countries in the world made offers of aid to Ankara and Damascus after the strong earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey, and its tremors spread to northern Syria, claiming the lives of thousands of people.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that Damascus expresses its thanks to the countries and organizations that have stood in solidarity with Syria and its people, and expressed their willingness to provide assistance.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry appealed to the member states of the United Nations and its agencies and specialized funds to help Damascus in facing the devastating earthquake.

For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Al-Miqdad, said that his country is ready to provide facilities to international organizations in order to provide the assistance needed by the affected citizens.

It also called on the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organizations to support the efforts made by the Syrian government.

And the people of the occupied Golan issued a statement, in which they said: “We share with our countrymen their painful affliction following the earthquake that struck the country’s governorates, and its results were disastrous.”
