A post on Facebook by an Egyptian young man sparked widespread controversy among activists during the past hours, after he announced the amount he received as “Eidiya” from his father’s family.
The young man, Mahmoud Badri, known to social media activists as “the richest young man in Egypt,” stated that he had received a gift from his father’s family of $2,900, equivalent to 90,000 Egyptian pounds.
While the post witnessed various comments, including those who did not believe him and questioned his speech, and others made jokes and demanded part of the feast, according to local websites.
The young man had recently sparked controversy by gifting his sister a diamond ring, and commented, “Because you are like angels, it was not useful for you to wear a diamond ring on the ground, so I decided to look up in the sky among the stars and the moon.”
The young man pointed out that the price of the ring he gave to his sister is $12,000.
The same young man also sparked widespread controversy before after he published a copy of a cafe’s bill, which indicates that he had a cup of cappuccino and a piece of pancake only for 54,100 Egyptian pounds, according to the “Al-Masrawy” website.
The young man commented on his photo accompanied by a cup of cappuccino, which recently spread on social media, with, “I love to drink cappuccino with gold…the taste of gold is sweet, try it.”
