23,684 new people tested positive, 150 additional hospitalizations and 10 new deaths recorded in Switzerland and Liechtenstein: this is the report on the pandemic, communicated today by the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP). There are more cases than last week: 18,423 last Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, 55,685 tests have been carried out and the positivity rate for PCR tests is 39.6% (35.5% for rapid antigen tests).
The intensive care unit occupancy rate is 73.6%: 16.8% Covid patients and 56.8% non-Covid. There are also 45,175 people in solitary confinement.
There are now 2,384 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past fourteen days. As for the reproduction rate (R) posted today by the FOPH, it is 0.93. In French-speaking Switzerland, it is 0.70 in the canton of Vaud, 0.71 in Neuchâtel, 0.74 in Friborg as in the Jura, 0.80 in Geneva and 0.81 in Valais.
In total, since the start of the pandemic, Switzerland has now counted 12,754 deaths, 46,822 hospitalizations and 2,842,378 people who tested positive for coronavirus.
With 2,384 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (2,680 last Wednesday), the incidence rate over fourteen days in Switzerland is higher than that of Italy (1,087) and France (1,437) but lower than that of Germany (2750) and Austria (4330), according to WHO figures.
Switzerland now has 69% of its population fully vaccinated (78.1% if only those over 12 are counted) and 1.1% partially*. 41.5% of the population received a booster dose. This proportion is 75.9% among those aged 65 and over.
* Since vaccination is currently almost at a standstill, we will only detail the data in the French-speaking cantons once a week, on Tuesdays.
