In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 9,802 new coronavirus infections were reported to the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) within 24 hours on Friday. At the same time, the BAG registered 15 new deaths and 128 hospital admissions.

On the same day a week ago, the BAG had received reports of 17,226 confirmed new infections, 160 hospital admissions and 20 deaths. The number of cases fell by 43.1 percent within a week. Hospital admissions decreased by 20 percent compared to the previous week.

There are currently a total of 630 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 75.80 percent. 15.20 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

In the past four weeks, 6,952.58 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections have been reported for every 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 0.78 around ten days ago.

69.12 percent of the population in Switzerland are now fully vaccinated. Another 1.01 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 78.17 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 42.54 percent of the general population and 76.99 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.

In the past 24 hours, 35,038 new corona tests have been reported to the BAG. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 3,507,296 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus, 50,665 people have had to be treated in hospital and 13,093 people have died in connection with Covid-19 disease.

According to the BAG, there are currently 50,146 people in isolation who have tested positive for the corona virus.
