If COVID has somewhat disappeared from our radar screens, the fact remains that hospitals in the region are currently experiencing an increase in hospitalizations linked to this infection.

Thus, at the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre, there are currently three outbreaks at the Charles-Le Moyne Hospital in Longueuil, each of them affecting 3 to 5 users.

There is also an outbreak affecting 6 users at the Haut-Richelieu hospital.

“All protection and infection control measures are being taken to contain these outbreaks,” specifies Joëlle Jetté, media relations information officer at the Communications and Public Affairs Department.

As for the CISSS de la Montérégie-Est, as of September 11, the Pierre-Boucher hospital had 39 cases, compared to 7 at the Honoré-Mercier Hospital in Saint-Hyacinthe and 25 at the Hôtel-Dieu in Sorel, confirms Caroline Doucet, media relations advisor at the CISSS de la Montérégie-Est.

Finally, on the CISSS Montérégie-Ouest side, there are 16 users hospitalized at the Anna-Laberge Hospital, 14 users hospitalized at the Suroît Hospital and none at the Barrie Memorial Hospital.

“However, the situation is under control and the management of COVID-19 is now being addressed through a more comprehensive approach, like the majority of respiratory infections. This is also what is done at the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest,” explains Jade St-Jean, executive advisor for external communications, media and ministerial relations.
