The brutal crime took place on Saturday afternoon in Agia Barbara, when the 69-year-old shot and killed his son-in-law, with reports that the two men had earlier argued.
The son of the assailant notified the police – and he is a police officer himself – and according to information, when the police arrived the assailant was walking around with a rifle in his hand.

The 57-year-old doctor by profession was married to his 69-year-old daughter and the woman was outside Attica at the time of the murder.
Reports indicate that the couple had problems in their relationship, however, no one knows yet why the father-in-law killed his son-in-law. The 69-year-old reportedly believed that the 57-year-old was abusing his daughter, but this has not been confirmed.
The alleged perpetrator has been arrested and taken to the Attica security sub-directorate where he is expected today to give the first explanations for the reasons that led him to this heinous act.
It should be noted that the wife of the victim and daughter of the alleged perpetrator, a microbiologist by profession, was in Sparta when the murder took place and learned about it by phone. The family had two minor children.
The two families lived together in the same apartment building, the in-laws on the first floor and the victim and his wife on the second floor.
In fact, the perpetrator is a retired paramedic and his wife is a retired nurse.
