The Mayor of Zacharos, Konstantinos Mitropoulos, the Deputy Mayor of Education, George Trigazis, the Authorized Road Safety Advisor and Municipal Councilor, Aristides Laliotis, the Principal of Zacharos Primary School, Kyriaki – Maria Karageli, the Principal of Figaleia Primary School, Chariklia Papandreou, the Principal of the Kakovatou Primary School, Ioannis Kadoglou, the President of the Zaharos Primary School Parents’ Association, Kostoula Christodoulopoulou and the President of the Figaleia Primary School Parents’ Association, Efi Georgakopoulou. Police Officer A’ Maria Panagopoulou and Deputy Police Officer Fotios Drakopoulos attended from the Ilia Traffic Division.
The above educational material is pedagogically appropriate and adapted according to the age of the students. In terms of content, it refers to a series of issues related to traffic education and road safety, with the aim of preventing accidents, through the formation of skills for safe pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle movements.
After the meeting, the Mayor of Zacharos, Konstantinos Mitropoulos, said:
“On January 1, we took over, by order of the citizens, the administration of the Municipality, not to carry out a formal administration but to connect our presence with major intersections and changes, and at the same time with small and self-explanatory movements.
One of these small and self-explanatory movements begins today.
Today we begin the effort to create a new framework for road safety and traffic education in the schools of our Municipality.
Through an educational process that we all want to have an interactive function and to be embraced by the children. We want everyone to be aware of student safety on the way to school and from school to home.
In our country, we mourn unjust human lives every year.
Our fellow human beings experience family tragedies, unfairly and unnecessarily.
Today, through this collaboration, we are taking, as I said, a small but self-evident step.
The Municipality supports this effort but does not stop there.
The Municipality of Zaharos must acquire a modern Traffic Management Park.
My colleagues are already studying all the cases of free spaces that exist in order to proceed with the relevant study, to register the project in the technical program and to implement it.
The Traffic Education Park will be a place of education, fun and entertainment for students of all levels.
In addition to its role in education on issues of traffic education and road safety, it will also be a venue for events.
I want to thank the principals of the schools, the teachers, the representatives of the Parents’ and Guardians’ Associations and the Traffic Directorate of Ilia who responded today to this invitation.
By joining forces, we can achieve a lot.”
