Cristina Kirchner brought together the deputies and senators of the Frente de Todos and asked to “rethink” the autonomy of the City

In the midst of political tension with the Buenos Aires government, Cristina Kirchner took advantage this Tuesday of a meeting with deputies and senators from the Frente de Todos to advance with everything against Horacio Rodriguez Larreta and without mentioning it, he proposed “rethinking a little” the issue of the autonomy of the Buenos aires city.

It was in the Senatebehind closed doors, without cell phones and during a meeting that brought together more than a hundred pro-government legislators, where the former President spoke of “a political police” that according to his interpretation “has taken over the security of the streets” of the City. Thus, the former president charged against the Buenos Aires security forces for the operation during the march last Saturday in front of her home in Recoletawhich ended with injuries and arrests.

With a full audience and escorted by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau, and the heads of the blocks of Deputies, Germán Martínez, and Senators, José Mayans, in addition to the fielders Anabel Fernández Sagasti and Paula Penacca, the vice president launched a strong offensive against the City and also attacked the head of the PRO, Patricia Bullrich.

At the beginning of his 20-minute message, he questioned the “incomprehensible” fence that the City Police had last Saturday in front of the building on Juncal and Uruguay streets, where he lives, and which caused the Kirchnerist organizations to decide to move the different acts that were planned in squares from the City to Recoleta as a sign of rejection of the decision of the Buenos Aires Government.

“I wanted to raise it in this area of the Legislative Power of the Argentine Republic, I think we also have to rethink a bit the issue of this blessed City of Buenos Aires, which is the capital of all Argentines,” he slipped before deputies and senators.

And immediately he added: “This must be rethought. Firstly because the Constitution does not speak of autonomytalks about a statute being issued and also because I think this city is the city of all Argentines.” But Cristina did not stop there because she also indicated that it should be reconsidered as well “jurisdictional functioning how jurisdiction should be exercised” and in this context “what is the role of the federal government” in the city.

The truth is that the Vice President’s statement comes at a time of strong tension between the City and the ruling party, which worsened after repeated demonstrations by Kirchnerist organizations in support of her figure after prosecutor Diego Luciani requested a conviction. 12 years old in the trial of the Vialidad case.

In this regard, Cristina also charged against the prosecutor’s allegation by defining it as “a bad script”, precisely because he said that all the acts of the powers of the State, “are absolutely reviewable and that the judges are the ones who have the last word on the acts.” “I want to continue living in a republican, representative and federal system and in a democracy, essentially. Where the government is elected by the people in free, democratic elections and without proscriptions every four years,” he replied.

But at this point he also lowered the line of the pro-government deputies and senators by indicating that “it is key to leave criminal law to go to constitutional law, how the country is organized and what its power is.” “This is a wake-up call, beyond the fact that I am the circumstantial recipient of the diatribe. It seems to me that it is a slightly deeper discussion that we have to develop,” the vice president invited, in some way.

After commenting that he learned of the attack on his son Maximo Kirchner -who was among the deputies present- one day after the incidents in front of his home, he went on to lambast the head of the PRO and not only recalled his time in the government of Fernando de la Ruabut also held her responsible for having “driven” the former president to sign the decree that declared the State of siege in December 2021, being part of the so-called “Sushi group” together with the children of former president Aíto and Antonio De la Rúa, Darío Lopérfido and the current deputy Hernán Lombardi, among others.

According to what Cristina pointed out, that group close to De la Rúa encouraged the then president to sign that decree “so that he would show authority and not remain a coward.” Then came the explosion of December 19 and 20 that left 39 dead.

That was not the only time he charged against Bullrich since he also recalled that the former Security Minister issued a tweet celebrating the request for 12 years in prison for the Vialidad case, which according to his interpretation represents a “stigmatization of 12 years of government “Kirchnerist.

“The president of the party took out an unintelligent tweet where it says: ’12 years of government, 12 years of sentence’. He wrote it and signed it. The truth is I don’t know if it was the afternoon time and it was already half …”, he slipped , with a touch of irony, which caused the laughter of all the legislators. “If you think about it, at least don’t write it down. He repeated exactly what I said in my speech! Freud, with these people, Freud is… Freud to the stick!” She added.

Beyond criticism and irony, Cristina showed her power in Congress by obtaining “wide support” from the different sectors that make up the ruling blocs and regained political centrality by turning the Senate into a scenario that increasingly resembles to what was the Patio de las Palmeras, with speeches for its people and the militancy.

Even a pro-government leader told Clarion: “The climate in the FDT is one of recomposition and unity. Larreta’s weekend unified Peronism.”
