Croatian prime minister: drone crash in Zagreb reveals threat to NATO countries

The fall of an unmanned aerial vehicle in Zagreb, which happened on Friday night, became a “clear threat” for all countries that are members of the NATO bloc.

This was stated by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Saturday, – writes RIA Novosti

The Croatian prime minister said this after inspecting the scene before the wreckage of the unmanned vehicle was removed for further examination and identification of its ownership.

UAV Tu-141 “Strizh” of Soviet production fell in one of the districts of Zagreb. According to his flight, the Croatian security forces calculated that he got into the airspace of the country from Hungary. Then it became known that he flew there from Romania and Ukraine.

The UAV flew over Croatia for 7 minutes and fell, according to Plenkovic, in a place where 4.5 thousand students live, there are two restaurants, a nightclub, a bridge over the river, and residential buildings – 200 meters away.

As the prime minister noted, the fact that no one was injured is a great success. 40 cars parked in the parking lots were damaged.

On Friday Plenkovic alerted EU leaders to the incident. He pointed out that “something similar can happen in another city, not necessarily the main one, of any NATO or EU state.”

The prime minister also noted that during the flight of the UAV over Hungary, they did not react to it for 40 minutes. This situation can no longer be tolerated, such threats must be responded to, Plenkovic said.
