A senior official in the Russian Security Council announced on Tuesday that Ukraine was behind an attack that targeted a concert hall in Moscow and left 139 people dead, news agencies reported.

In response to a question regarding whether Kiev or ISIS, which claimed responsibility for the attack, was behind the attack that occurred on Friday, Secretary General of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said, “Of course, Ukraine.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously said that the attack on a concert outside Moscow was carried out by “Islamic militants,” but indicated that it was in Ukraine’s interest and that Kiev may have played a role.

Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia knows the identity of the perpetrators of the “Crocus” terrorist attack, but is interested in knowing who ordered its implementation.

This came during a meeting on the measures taken following the Crocus attack, where the Russian President made a series of statements regarding the attack and its effects, in addition to the conduct of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

Putin said, in statements published on the Telegram application: “We know that the crime was carried out by extremist Islamists with an ideology that the Islamic world has fought for centuries.”

“The question that arises is: Who benefits from this? These atrocities may be just a link in a whole series of attempts carried out by those who have been at war with our country since 2014 at the hands of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev,” he said.
