Following Paint, Notepad has also joined Microsoft’s Copilot series through a new update on Windows 11. Microsoft is testing a new feature called “Cocreator” powered by ChatGPT-4 in the Notepad app for Windows 11, and references to the unreleased feature are already floating around.
Windows Lastest noted that a reference to a feature supported by Notepad’s ChatGPT was found in Notepad’s application suite folder. These files are named with prefixes such as “CoWriterCreditLimitDialog”, “CoWriterDropDownButton” and “CoWriterWaitlistDialog” to represent various UI elements and dialog boxes that may be part of the new functional UI.
With Cocreator in Notepad, you will be able to use ChatGPT’s features to generate unique and original content directly within the app. The reference to “CreditLimitDialog” indicates that Notepad can use a “credit” system to limit the use of artificial intelligence, possibly providing a usage quota model.
The Notepad AI feature will likely start rolling out to testers in the coming days.
