“Dance pulsates in every moment – from the grand spectacles of the festivals to the cozy family gatherings. The rhythmic beats of the samba echo through the streets during Carnival, while the forró steps symbolize our traditional June festivities. The different dance styles such as Maracatu , Passinho and Coco each tell their own story and paint a vivid picture of our national identity,” says Bogea, who is a self-trained ballet dancer. “Even in my first ballet lesson I could feel an inner peace within me. When I stood on stage for the first time, there was this echo of calm within me again. The darkness of the room and at the same time the presence of the audience, the happiness, the looks that crossed those of my friends on stage, feeling my body in motion, flowing and playing with gravity – all of this really touched me deeply.”
The company could already be seen at the Dance Days in 2018. This year, the audience can look forward to three pieces by the energetic collective, one of which is very special: the American star choreographer Stephen Shropshire has taken on the finale from Anton Bruckner’s eighth symphony as a commissioned work by the Posthof (more on one word, right). ).
Two further works come from the Brazilian choreographers Leilane Teles (“Umbó”) and Cassi Abranches (Agora). Both “have created dynamic works that capture the essence of Brazil in motion: ‘Agora’ depicts our times. ‘Umbó’ explores themes of lineage and identity.” The audience can look forward to “an electrifying performance that pulsates to the rhythms of Brazil,” says Bogea, whose goal is to “promote dialogue about current issues.”
