In Monaco, Daniel Ricciardo lost in qualifying to teammate Lando Norris for the sixth time this season. If Lando qualified in a high fifth place, then Daniel might not reach the final and showed only the fourteenth time.
Daniel Ricciardo: “In the third training session, my task was to return to the rhythm and gain speed. Then we adjusted the settings with an eye to qualifying – I think I had a good pace in the first session.
I managed to take a few steps forward, but there were also mistakes. Taking all this into account, we looked quite competitive. In the second session, I was not able to add as much as possible, given the change in track conditions and other factors. It was very difficult for me to assess the limit of what is possible and how hard you can attack.
It’s hard for me to find words to evaluate the result. I am frustrated and confused regarding not being able to take the steps forward that I should have taken naturally.”
