Death toll from armed attacks on villages rises to 37

AA / Abuja

The number of victims of armed attacks on villages that occurred on Sunday in Zamfara State, in northwestern Nigeria, increased on Tuesday to 37 dead.

On Sunday, several attacks by armed men on motorcycles were perpetrated once morest the villages of “Guyi”, “Durwa” and “Cinar Kiawah” in Zamfara.

Local newspapers reported, in an initial toll, that 24 people had been killed and 62 people had been abducted. But the number of victims has meanwhile risen to 37 people.

Nigeria suffers from deteriorating security following occasional armed attacks by the armed organization “Boko Haram”, and conflicts between herders and farmers.
