On the 2nd, the Emergency Response Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea took responsibility for the devastating defeat in the June 1 local election and decided to resign the non-commissioned members.

Co-chairman Ho-jung Yun said at a press conference after a closed meeting of the non-supervisor at the National Assembly on the same day, “All our members of the Democratic Party have decided to resign after taking responsibility for the results of this local election.”

Chairman Yoon said, “I apologize to the people and party members who supported the election defeat.” “I would also like to apologize to the 2974 candidates who did their best until the very end,” he said.

Chairman Yoon said, “The new leadership of the party will be formed through the General Assembly of the National Assembly, the Party Affairs Committee and the Central Committee to prepare for the evaluation of the presidential and local elections and the regular party convention. said

After meeting with reporters after the press conference, Senior Spokesperson Koh Yong-jin said, “I came here to analyze and evaluate the causes of the defeat in the presidential election, and to innovate the party accordingly, but almost all the non-commissioned members had the same opinion that they did not do enough as the local elections were imminent.” He said, “The opinion was that we should not stop and go ahead with objective evaluations (for the presidential and local elections) and come up with innovative measures accordingly,” he said.

Spokesperson Koh said, “This time, in the event of a vacancy in the leadership according to the party constitution and party rules, the floor leader, who acts as the acting (party representative), only acts as an acting representative, and the non-subcommittee, which will remain until the (August) national convention, consists of the general assembly of members and the party affairs committee, if necessary. We will open up to the Central Committee to gather opinions and make a decision,” he said.

Regarding the possibility of holding the national convention early in the wake of the disastrous local election, spokesperson Koh said, “It can be pulled if there is talk that it is necessary to hold the national convention quickly during the parliamentary assembly and party affairs committee.” “It is scheduled for the end of August, but We have to look into whether this is possible,” he said. “As a result of review by the watchers, there were practical opinions that there was not enough time physically (to hold an early national convention),” he said.

When asked whether former presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung’s run for the Incheon area was the cause of the local election’s defeat, spokesperson Ko said, “Some members of the committee thought that way.” I didn’t,” he replied.

Spokesperson Koh said that at the end of the local elections, there was no discussion about the innovation claims and the resulting conflicts within the party, such as the resignation of 586 co-chairman Park Ji-hyeon. When asked if there was talk of forming the party’s innovation committee, spokesperson Ko said, “No,” he said.
