The Unified champion pointed out that his end in the strings was close due to his age (36 years old), something that he hinted again last night on the non-televised show from WWE held in Trenton, NJ.
As a result of these words, many speculations have arisen about the future of Roman Reigns in WWE. Sean Ross Sapp, a Fightful journalist, has contacted several people close to WWE to shed some light on this matter. According to Sapp, Roman Reigns is not expected to leave WWE anytime soonbecause he is still in the foreseeable creative plans, although it is true that it is said that his schedule could be reduced to start his career in Hollywood.
“Fightful inquired with numerous people backstage at WWE after the promo, who say that he is strongly attached to the company’s creative plans for the foreseeable future and he is not expected to leave ‘at any moment,’ wrote Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful. “The possibility of him landing movie roles and eventually needing some time off was something that many in WWE had been looking forward to for a long time, particularly once he landed a spot in the movie Hobbs & Shaw. However, the producers, the Staff and senior officials said they have not been informed of any scheduled departure for Roman Reigns.”
A Fightful source indicated that Roman Reigns is likely to be accommodated and incentivized for WWE to remain their priority after centering programming around him, as the company does not see an end in sight with him as a key factor.
“Another person from the company indicated that he believed that Reigns was referring to eventually his schedule will include fewer house shows.“Sapp continued to explain. “To put things in perspective, Roman Reigns has had three televised matches this year, 25 at house shows and nine in dark matches. So even though he has had a reduced on-screen wrestling schedule, he is still a long way from wrestling 100-plus bouts this year.”
Roman Reigns will fight again tonight en WrestleMania Backlash. He will team up with the Uso brothers to take on Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle).
