It will be in May when the Human Rights Commission headed by the sixth councilor, Blanca Álvarez, will meet once more with the Madres Poderosas collective, for the last details of the memorial for the victims of femicide in Torreón, whose construction has already been authorized.
The mayor explained that the memorial will be erected in the central median of Calzada Colón, in front of the Municipal Women’s Institute (IMM) building, respecting the anti-monument that the group made in the same median, with wooden crosses, with the names of each of the victims that have been recently registered.
“In front of the IMM, a space will be allocated so that this memorial can be built, they are working on a project together with the Madres Poderosas collective, which They are the ones who have been leading this whole project and we have been in meetings to see the modifications and see how the term will be and the small details that remain. In itself, the project is already authorized, it only remains to define a few things regarding the names of the victims, ”he advanced.
Within the project, a kind of metal arches are contemplated, where the names of their daughters would be engraved, who lost their lives at the hands of their feminicides.
