The Africa Development Club of the Attijariwafa bank group and Attijari bank Mauritania organized on June 14 and 15 in Nouakchott a multi-sector mission around the theme ” Development of Agriculture and Fisheries in Mauritania: what opportunities for investment? “. This is the 36th mission of this kind organized since 2016.

More than 200 business and institutional leaders, including delegations from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Egypt, Mali and Morocco took part, in the presence of the Minister of Fisheries and the Maritime Economy, Mr. Mohamed Abidine MAYIF and the President of the UNPM (National Union of Mauritanian Employers), Mr. Mohamed Zeine El Abidine OULD CHEIKH AHMED. An Investment Market highlighted Cameroon, Mali, Morocco and Mauritania, promoted respectively by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development of Cameroon, API Mali (Investment Promotion Agency), AMDIE (Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports), API Mauritania and the Nouadhibou Free Zone.

More than 200 structured meetings in B to B and B to G allowed participating companies to generate business opportunities in the sectors of Fishing, Agriculture, Agro-industry, Construction, IT, Services and Energies.

During the second panel on the development of Agriculture in Mauritania, the interventions of Mr. Mohamed El Mokhtar SIDI MOHAMED, Technical Advisor in charge of Research and Training at the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Moustapha MAOULOUD, Technical Advisor at the Investment Promotion Agency in Mauritania, Mr. Adama DIA, President of the Mauritanian Federation of Agriculture, Mr. Cheikh Mohamed ABDERRAHMANE, CEO PAP SARL and Mr. Moulay OUMAR, Independent Expert allowed the guests to have first-hand information on the possibilities of investing there.

The mission was punctuated by two field visits organized during the day of June 15: The 1st in the Nouakchott region, where the participants were able to discover the Port of Tanit as well as a processing, freezing and marketing unit of fish ; while other participants visited two agricultural perimeters in the Rosso region.
