Dialect course: Speak in dialect – and be understood

“Sit together. Mitanaunda ratschn. Ois vasteh.” It doesn’t sound complicated to us, but for people whose native language isn’t German, speaking in dialect is usually a challenge. Because understanding dialect also makes everyday life easier for women with a migrant background, Volkshilfe offers a special dialect course as part of the “Living in Dialogue” (WiD) project.

At the Rieder Learning and Laughter Café you have the opportunity to take this dialect course. “Many women with a migrant background speak wonderful standard German. If they can also understand the dialect, experience shows that this strengthens the feeling of belonging on both sides and everyday life is made enormously easier. We were therefore happy to take up the women’s request for a dialect course,” says WiD employee Veronika Neißl, who acts as a competent trainer in the dialect course.

Courses in January, February

The first courses with special training in listening comprehension have already taken place in Ried, and the demand proves the initiators right. The course will be continued in January and February due to its success and demand.

For those who decide quickly, there is still the option today, Thursday (2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.), otherwise the course will be offered on the following other dates: Thursday, January 25th, Thursday, February 8th and Thursday, February 29th. The courses take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the learning and laughter café at Bahnhofstrasse 27 in Ried. Participation is free; Register at 0676/8734 7021 or by email at: [email protected]
