Mujinga Kambundji will return to the joys of the meeting in Eugene (USA) in the Diamond League on Saturday, where she shone last year. Faced with it, the competition will be more exceptional than ever.
Indoor world champion on 60m this winter, Mujinga Kambundji will work twice as hard. She will compete in the 100m and 200m. Last year, the Bernese won the half-lap in Oregon, an hour after running the 100m in 10”96 (7th).
Kambundji will compete in the 100m including Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson, the 2 Jamaican rockets, American Sha’Carri Richardson, Briton Dina Asher-Smith and Ivorian Marie Josee Ta Lou, or 80% of the cream of the discipline. His return to Geneva on Saturday (11”17) was well done.
Jonas Raess will start over 1500m
Zurich’s Jonas Raess will start his outdoor season over 1500m, a somewhat short distance for him but which will allow him to fine-tune his speed for the 5000 and 10,000m. Eugene, a mecca for athletics across the Atlantic, will host the World Championships from July 15 to 24.
