With the aim of continuing to build positive experiences for all the people who use its platform, Uber presents a new security function that allows partners and drivers registered in the App to report those names of user accounts and users of the App that are fanciful or inappropriate. In this sense, the app revealed some curious names with which Argentine users have tried to register on the platform, to reinforce the importance of using the real name to avoid losing access to the accounts.
Uber revealed the existence of users who try to register in the app with fictional, superhero or cartoon names. Hannibal, Maradona, Messi and Dibu are some examples of the most curious and fun names that users tried to register with the application. But there are also inappropriate denominations of a sexual or threatening nature that are prohibited on the platform, according to Terms and Conditions.
“With this new feature, our goal is to respond to drivers about one of their most specific concerns when driving with the Uber app. It is important that users register with their real name in the app, that we all do our part to contribute to generating a community of positive, respectful and transparent exchanges”, commented Eleonora Turk, Head of Security Communications for Uber in Argentina.
With this new security function, drivers and partners registered in the App can report usernames with sexualized terms, with nicknames or violent words, with numbers or special characters, with inappropriate emojis or with fictitious characters such as superheroes and characters. cartoon. Words like “sex”, “kill”, “fuck”, “weapon”, “stupid”; certain emojis or names such as “Dibu” or “Superman” are prohibited when registering in the app and can be reported.
How to change or update the name on the account
Open the dropdown menu in the app, in the upper right corner (where the photo is).
Select: “Settings”.
Select the space where your name, phone and email are, and the “Edit account” option will be displayed.
Choose the “Name” section and make the necessary changes.
Then click on the “Last Name” section and make the necessary changes.
When a user is reported for having an inappropriate name in the app, a specialized team analyzes the name to take the corresponding measures. The account is under review and if the name is found to be inappropriate or improper, the account is suspended and the user is asked to edit it.
