Disclosure of a diet that reduces the risk of bowel cancer by 20% • Al Marsad Newspaper

Exclusive translation: A study found that men who ate a diet rich in vegetables, whole grains, beans and lentils might reduce their risk of bowel cancer by more than 20%.

Scientists revealed that men have a higher risk of developing the disease in general, according to what was published in the British Daily Mail.

“We speculate that the antioxidants found in vegetables and whole grains might contribute to lowering the risk of bowel cancer by suppressing chronic inflammation that can lead to cancer,” said researcher Jaehye Kim, from Kyung Hee University, South Korea.

The newspaper pointed out that the men in the study were 60 years old, while the women were 59 years old.

And Kim stated: “Colon and rectal cancer (intestines) is the third most common type of cancer worldwide, and the lifetime risk of developing it is one in 23 for men and one in 25 for women, but the study did not clearly show its results on women. as men.

And she explained why eating more amounts of healthy plant foods is associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer in men and not in women, saying: Because men tend to be more susceptible to this disease.
