Pa’oa Tovey
In the Tovey family, caring and love are the most important values. Kura and her husband Tavita work at Brigham Young University in Laie, Hawaii. Together, they participate in a large number of activities within the Tahitian community, which is numerous on the North Shore side.
Paul Hammond
Ninirei Hammond is a Tahitian alumnus of Brigham Young University in Hawaii. She found love during this period and settled down. Ninirei and her husband then started a family. Although Hawaii is culturally close to Tahiti, Ninirei felt a bit uprooted and always participated in the University’s cultural events. She makes it a point of honor to transmit the Tahitian culture and more particularly the language to her children, who can now be proud to speak Tahitian, English and French fluently.
Father Klaus
Timote Klaus resides on the island of Hawaii. He is the president of the Tahitian community and studies at the University of Brigham, in Laie. Her role is to prepare her students for “Culture Night”. Pa’oa Pulotu
Madame Pulotu has lived on the island of Hawaii for more than 50 years, she is one of the first Tahitians to have come to study in Hawaii. She tells us about her youth.
Pā’oa Schlink
Madame Schlink, of Tahitian and Hawaiian origins, has written a book. “Return to Kahiki”, an identity quest in the footsteps of his ancestors. In particular, she would have discovered letters written in Tahitian between the King of Hawaii and Queen Pomare of Tahiti… Here is her portrait.
