The situation for most supermarkets is not rosy. Our department stores therefore have no choice and must renew themselves. And at Carrefour, we understand that. As a result, recently, the country’s hypermarkets have been offering… “Maxi-packs”.
Pasta, olive oils, tomato sauces… it is now possible to find all sorts of products in large quantities, such as Ketchup per 5 liters or sugar per 8 kilos.
“It’s a brand new concept that we have developed in our forty hypermarkets in Belgium,” confirmed a spokesperson for the group to our colleagues from Belang van Limburg. “We noticed that the demand existed among our customers,” continues Siryn Stambouli.
It’s no coincidence, but the concept was a big hit at Makro, whose stores recently closed in Belgium. By buying in “large format”, the price is on average 30% cheaper than when buying in small quantities.
For the moment, the offer concerns 162 products, mainly intended for restaurants and professionals.
There is currently no question of testing this concept in small Carrefour stores.
