An international team of scientists is proposing to use an anti-cancer drug to treat Covid-19.
And the magazine ACS Infectious Diseases indicates that a team of scientists from the United States, China and Switzerland, discovered that a drug commonly used in the treatment of cancer, is able to affect the virus that causes “Covid-19” disease and other viruses.
As is known, the methods of treating the emerging coronavirus infection are still far from perfect, due to slight differences in their effect. Therefore, experts in all countries of the world are searching for new ways to treat “Covid-19”. Now the international team has discovered that the anti-cancer drug apratoxin S4, which works with human proteins, blocks the multiplication of several viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 and the influenza virus.
And the results of testing this drug on the cells of monkeys and humans who were infected with “Covid-19” showed that it reduces the infected cells more effectively than other antiviral drugs.
It also showed high activity against influenza A virus, Zika fever, West Nile virus and Dengue fever. This drug does not prevent the entry of the emerging coronavirus into the body, but it reduces the amount of (S) protein and reduces the replication of viral RNA.
