Domestic homicides in 2021 – A deadly year for couples

At the start of the year, Thierry was shot several times in Vernier. Just before dying in the arms of the rescuers, the 30-year-old had accused his wife of being the author of the shots, which she denies. If the investigation concludes that the wife is guilty, this case will be an exception: Thierry will be the only man to have been the victim of a marital murder in recent years in Geneva.

As elsewhere in Switzerland, homicides committed within the couple almost exclusively affect women. Last year was particularly deadly in the canton, with figures that had not been reached for five years. The trial of an alleged murderer will begin on Monday.
