Did Trump’s lawyer lie to the FBI?
Was it an accident or an outright lie?
One of the ex-US President’s lawyers Donald Trump (76) is said to have given the FBI false information about the whereabouts of secret documents in its possession.
At least one attorney for the Republican is said to have signed a statement in June stating that all of the classified material had been returned to the government, the reports „New York Times“ citing four unnamed persons.
This document is said to have been handed over to the Ministry of Justice.
Means: Trump’s team has probably withheld information from the investigators. Whether consciously or not – so far unclear.
The fact is, however, that the FBI is also investigating because of the obstruction of investigations – and that is why it raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate last Monday. The explanation of his team of lawyers may have been decisive.

During the search, the FBI then seized eleven classified documents. In doing so, Trump may have broken several laws, including the US Espionage Act.
According to an FBI list, the agents also found Top Secret/SCI documents, which can only be viewed in special government facilities.
The Washington Post reported that the FBI also looked for papers on nuclear weapons.
Trump spoke again on Saturday on the online network Truth Social, which he co-founded. There the ex-president wrote that he had the truth on his side. And if you have the truth on your side, you will ultimately be victorious.
The New York Times quoted a Trump spokesman as saying: “As with every Democrat-sponsored witch hunt, this unprecedented and unnecessary crackdown is being carried out by a media outlet willing to work with suggestive leaks, anonymous sources and no hard facts.” .”
Depending on the results of the investigation, it could be over for Trump with another presidential candidacy in 2024, with which he recently flirted again and again.
