A good year after the violent death of a young woman in Ingolstadt, the public prosecutor’s office has brought charges of joint murder against a man and a woman. The two accused are accused of killing their 23-year-old victim with numerous stab wounds in order to fake the death of the accused so that they can start a new life, the authority said on Thursday. The dead man looked confusingly similar to the accused.
Why the woman wanted to go into hiding
The background to the decision to go into hiding was family disputes over an ex-boyfriend of the accused. The body of the woman from Eppingen in Baden-Württemberg was found last August in the suspected German-Iraqi’s car. The family and the police had initially mistaken the dead for the accused. The autopsy then raised doubts about the identity. The woman, initially believed to be dead, and her acquaintance – a Kosovar – were arrested. The two have been in custody since then. So far they have remained silent on the murder charge.
Attempted incitement to murder
According to the public prosecutor’s office, charges of attempted incitement to murder were also brought against both suspects. The woman is said to have tried to have one of her ex-boyfriend’s brothers killed. The man is said to have tried in custody to persuade a fellow inmate to kill a witness in the murder investigation. The Ingolstadt district court will decide whether there will be a trial.
