MEMBER of Commission IX DPR RI Netty Prasetiyani Aher appreciated the circular letter from the Ministry of Manpower which appealed to companies to provide Holiday Allowances (THR) to ojol (online motorcycle taxi) drivers and couriers.
“Giving THR to online motorcycle taxi drivers and couriers is a step that is in line with the spirit of justice and equality where all parties who contribute receive appropriate rewards,” said Netty in a press release in Jakarta, Wednesday (20/3).
Motorbike taxi drivers and couriers, said Netty, even though they are partners, have contributed to the company, so they deserve to be given THR. Providing religious THR is one of the company’s obligations to workers, including PKWT (Specific Time Work Agreement) workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers and package delivery workers.
“It would be unfair if online drivers who are the spearhead of the company’s growth do not get THR. “The status is that they are partners, but they have contributed to facilitating community activities and driving the national economy,” he said.
Therefore, Netty asked the government not to just stop at the advisory level. “Concrete steps must be followed to ensure implementation in the field. Approach online transportation companies so they are willing to provide THR for the welfare of these informal workers,” he said.
Apart from motorbike taxi drivers, continued Netty, other sectors and occupational groups that do not receive justice in terms of THR must also be monitored and resolved by the government.
