Dr. Abrar Majdi Al-Nasheet’s Award-Winning Medical Research on Pregnancy-Related Anxiety

Dr. Abrar Majdi Al-Nasheet, a trainee doctor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Salmaniya Medical Complex, won fourth place for the best medical research out of 90 participating medical research in the fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi Mental Health Conference, which was held in the United Arab Emirates.

The research was prepared by Dr. Abrar Magdy Al-Nasheet, and Dr. Nada Abdel-Fattah Abdel-Al, a trainee physician in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Al-Kharji Hospital in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and under the supervision and follow-up of Dr. Nahed Abdel-Latif Kamal, a consultant in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.

The research aimed to evaluate the prevalence of anxiety among pregnant women, explore the risk factors associated with it, and compare the presence of anxiety at all stages of pregnancy among pregnant women who visit the antenatal clinics at the Salmaniya Medical Complex. One of the proposals is for screening for pregnancy-related anxiety to be part of the examinations. Routine prenatal care to detect groups at risk, and those whose condition requires follow-up are referred by a psychologist located in the outpatient clinics of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. It is also recommended to conduct mental health education and rehabilitation for childbirth in all health care institutions as part of routine prenatal care to reduce the incidence of anxiety related to pregnancy. .
