The drafting of an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine is almost completed. Representatives of the United States, France, Germany and Great Britain are working on the document, informs Frankfurter Allgemeine Sunday newspaper (FAS).

According to media reports, the G7 countries and the European Union should be involved in the discussion in the near future.

The media writes that the role of each country participating in the agreement in helping Ukraine will be spelled out separately, while in Germany they urge not to make these obligations legally binding, believing that the “Israeli model” of ensuring security is suitable for Kiev. At the same time, for Ukraine, such a model is a plan “B”, the main goal is to join NATO, and not to receive guarantees that should become a “bridge” on Ukraine’s path to NATO, the newspaper writes.

It is noted that Kyiv expects to receive security guarantees by April 2024.

The discussion of security guarantees for Ukraine is taking place on the eve of the NATO summit – it is to be held on July 11-12 in Vilnius.
