Drei Ducati vorne – 4. Viñales

After twelve wins in 20 races, the 2023 version of the Ducati Desmosedici has lost none of its power. And the four GP22 models used by Gresini Racing and Mooney VR46 are also competitive. Because no fewer than six of the eight Ducati riders are in the top ten after three hours of the Sepang test. As expected, Marc Márquez is by far the fastest of the four Honda works drivers.

While Stefan Bradl went out on the track for two installation laps today, Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha), Jonas Folger, Dani Pedrosa (both Red Bull KTM) and Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia) as well as Michele Pirro (Ducati) are not on the road today. Yamaha test driver Katsuaki Nakasuga moved out for eleven laps.

Interesting: Alex Márquez (8th place) was only 0.145 seconds slower on his second day of testing with the Gresini-Ducati GP22 than Marc Márquez with the Repsol-Honda.

“There are no more assignments planned for me,” said Dani Pedrosa as he lugged his Alpinestars leathers to the service at lunchtime. Then he asked Stefan Bradl: “How were the conditions today?” The response from Bayern, who flies back to Munich the following night: “Very good.”

But shortly before 2 p.m. it started to dribble, the announced rain set in. And the drivers rolled into the pits for an extensive lunch break. The lap times remained unchanged between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

As a reminder: Pramac-Ducati factory pilot Jorge Martin achieved pole position at the 2022 Sepang GP with a time of 1:57.790 min.
