Drought: restriction of water use in 23 Walloon municipalities

Twenty-three municipalities – Stoumont, Burg Reuland, Rochefort, Durbuy, Libin, Libramont, Chimay, Theux, Bouillon, Léglise, Habay, Pepinster, Vresse-sur-Semois, Tellin, Bertogne, Tenneville, Gouvy, Gedinne, Hotton, Amblève, Bullange, Bütgenbach et St. Hubert – have issued orders restricting the use of water and others are subject to special monitoring by the SWDE (Société wallonne des eaux), namely La Roche-en-Ardenne et Beauraingindicates the drought expertise cell of the Walloon region, Friday evening, following meeting.

Since the previous meeting on August 25, rainfall in Wallonia has been minimal. The situation therefore remains similar with regard to the drought index of l’IRM compared to last week, i.e. an extremely dry diet. For the next 7 days, the moderate showers which are announced – up to 10 liters by the beginning of next week – will have little influence on the drought situation, further specifies the cell in a press release.
