The National Council of the Tunisian Hotel Federation (FTH) estimated yesterday that tourist activity is not able to resume its normal pace, given the continued closure of the Algerian borders, the absence of Russian tourists, the limited means available to air transport and the absence of government support. In this press release published at the end of a meeting held on Thursday on the difficulties facing hotel establishments, the council pointed out the non-respect by the State of its commitments to hoteliers. “Hoteliers are also facing a problem of lack of liquidity, due to the refusal of banks to finance the sector and the absence of exceptional lines of credit dedicated to this activity”, noted the FTH, recalling that 30% of hotel units were unable to reopen during this season. The participants also pointed to the lack of visibility, the rise in prices and the weak support from the State, stressing the importance of preserving hotel units and saving jobs, while affirming their openness to dialogue. with the social partner, in order to improve the purchasing power of workers in the sector.
