Economy | Fuels: refineries on strike and supply disruption put stations dry

Motorists have for a few days and especially this weekend, noticed a lack of fuel in several service stations in the region. The Total network being the one with the most pumps covered with a sleeve.

Two causes are at the origin of this situation. The first is a strike called by the CGT in the TotalEnergies and Esso France refineries. The union, which renewed the movement on Friday, is asking for a salary increase. The La Mède refineries for Total Energies and Fos for Esso are affected.

The second cause is the influx of motorists into the Total network, which since the beginning of September has been charging low prices. Adding 18 cents off to the 30 cents registered in the law on purchasing power. This aggressive commercial policy causes disruptions in supplies due to the implementation of quotas, which drains stations that do not have sufficient capacity.

It is still possible to refuel in other networks, but not at the same price…
