The Ornithological Society invites you to celebrate the International Day of Migratory Birds on Saturday, May 11, by observing birds in the towers, which will also determine the observation tower with the most birds.

On the tower birdwatching day, you can observe birds both independently and with a guide. In Läänemaa, ornithologist Margus Ellermaa is waiting for those interested in guided bird watching on the viewing platform of Puise bus station from 6 to 12.

In order to participate in the tower birdwatching day, observations must be made in a freely chosen tower on May 11 between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and note down the name and location of the tower, the time of observation, the number of observers, and all bird species seen and heard. In order to find out the tower with the most species, the observation data must be sent to the ornithological society at [email protected] by 21:00 on May 12.

Anyone interested can take part in the tower birdwatching day on the second Saturday of May, observing the birds on their own in any of the towers or participating in a guided birdwatching session. In addition to celebrating the International Day of Migratory Birds, the Ornithological Society also determines the tower with the most bird species.

The Ornithological Society has been organizing the tower birdwatching day since 2011. Last year, the observers noticed the most bird species in the Vihasoo Tower located by the Eru Bay in Lahemaa, where 86 species were recorded.
